In our society, there is a lot of emphasis put on looking young. While other cultures venerate the wisdom of their older citizens and honor old age, in Western culture it’s all about youth. Therefore, as people begin to show signs of aging (and it’s inevitable that we all will) they look for products that will help them fight the effects. One of the main signs that someone is getting older is the formation of wrinkles, especially around the eyes, so one of these quests for younger looking skin involves finding the best under eye wrinkle cream.

As we age, our skin loses elasticity allowing it to sag. The eye area is particularly delicate and prone to wrinkles. Although getting plenty of sleep and drinking adequate amounts of water will help to slow the development of wrinkles, you also need to find a way to put more moisture and elasticity back into the skin around your eyes. That’s where under eye wrinkle creams come in. There’s a lot of debate about whether or not they really do work, but the general consensus is that keeping a cream on the area around your eyes will help diminish the look of wrinkles in that area temporarily.

Our eye muscles get a lot of use. Stop and think about how often you move the muscles surrounding your eyes. Your eyes are the part of your body you use to express every emotion, and that involves using the muscles. Every time you use those muscles, the very thin skin in that area is being twisted into another position which stretches it. As the skin loses elasticity, it loses the ability to snap back when stretched. Therefore, the excess skin falls into wrinkles and fine lines, and you need to find an under eye wrinkle cream that will put some stretch back into your skin.

Under eye wrinkle creams aren’t a permanent solution to wrinkles around the eyes, but they do help as long as you keep using them. Of course, there are a lot of other problems that develop around the eyes as you age in addition to wrinkles and fine lines. You may develop dark circles, bags, and crow’s feet which all combine to make you look older. Things in your environment hasten the effects of aging. For example, a lot of exposure to the sun over the years will cause your facial skin to wrinkle more and so will smoking and the development of free radicals. It seems like a no-win battle, doesn’t it?

What you need is an under eye wrinkle cream that will tone and firm your eye region, preserve the nutrients in your skin, moisturize sensitive areas, and protect your skin from further damage. It sounds like a tall order for any one cream, and you probably won’t be able to eradicate the damage that has occurred over time by using one. However, you can keep more wrinkles from forming so quickly. In order to minimize the formation of wrinkles, it’s best to start taking steps to preserve your skin while you’re still in your early 20s. However, if you can’t do this, the sooner you start cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and protecting the skin around your eyes, the more you’ll reduce the effects of future aging.
